Frequently Asked Questions and Site InformationWhat is The Frozen Continent?
<< back to The Frozen Continent dot com
The Frozen Continent is a site dedicated to the experiences of those taking the Connoisseur's Cruise on the Professor Multanovskiy--a trip made available by Quark. This expedition took place during February 22 through March 14, 2002. While anyone on board is more than welcome to submit their own trip photos, most pictures within are by Greg Snyder. Can I become a Sponsor? You Betcha! If you would like to sponsor The Frozen Continent (which is a non-profit site), feel free to contact me to discuss contributions. As of now, this site will go off the web in about 18 months from today (3/29/2002).How do I navigate The Frozen Continent dot com? When you enter The Frozen Continent, you'll be taken to an index page that shows you nearly all the sites we experienced on this expedition. (And since I'm not a birder, I am lacking on bird photos.) You can surf directly to each location either by selecting an image from that location, or from the navigation bar on the right. Why aren't the pictures loading right?--All I see sometimes is a thin-strip. You know, I really have no idea why that's happening--there must be some fundamental fault with my thumbnail-software. This can easily be fixed however just by clicking on the "refresh" button when this happens. What are those goofy dark-spots on the upper edges of some pictures? Arg! My camera's (Minolta Dimage-7) lens is built with such minimal tolerance that even a UV-protective lens filter screws up the wide-angle images. Since the camera nearly cost me a grand, it's something we're all going to have to live with...because I'm not taking the chance of putting a phat-scratch on this camera's lens. Let's all complain to minolta until they fix their stupid camera design. What do those Navigation Buttons mean? The navigation buttons are pretty much like that on a VCR. The Beginning button is exactly that--it takes you the first image or page from that location. The Back button takes you to the previous image or page. The Up button takes you back to your previous index page. The Forward button takes you to the next image or index page, while the End button takes you to the very last picture or index page for that location. You misspelled my name idiot! Sorry! email me, and I'll fix it.Hey--I'm a sponsor too, but you didn't give me credit! Doh! email me, and I'll put you on...Where can I send my submissions? Send all submissions to me, and I'll put them up!Hey! I ordered some CD's from you--and they're not here yet! ...I know...I know... They'll be sent out by April 12, 2002. This doctoral candidacy thing is kicking my ass...Can I order one of your CD-sets? ...uhm... ...ok... Contact me and we'll talk about it.Can you tell me about this 2-disc CD set? I'm making a 2-disc cd set that contains about 170 of my very best pictures from the trip, all my videos (including Simon's bumbling penguin video), a best of the best top 50 image power-point slide show, and some freeware that scrolls through these images for your computer's wallpaper. They sell for 40 (american) dollars. Images on this cd-set will print out to make very nice 8 * 10's. Photoshopping work available upon special request. But what I just want a few pictures--and not the whole lot? Contact me and we'll talk about it.Why is the site so simply done? ... Couldn't you have gotten your freak on with some fancy flash or shockwave stuff? Ya...I know, this site uses old web coding technology. This is deliberate because a lot of the sponsors have or use older computers and/or operating systems.I'm a sponsor. Can I share this site with family, friends, and frenemies? You Betcha! Knock Yourself Out. |
